Quorum appointed to do
embassy security for Dept. Foreign Affairs
November 2007
Quorum has been successful in being appointed
to the security panel of the Department of Foreign
Affairs and Trade (DFAT). This means that Quorum
is one of only a handful of companies qualified
and permitted to undertake the installation, service
and maintenance of security access control and CCTV
systems for Australian embassies and trade missions
around the world. Quorum’s Managing Director Chris
Pearson says he is immensely proud of his company
achieving this unique status. “Everyone in my team
did a fantastic job in preparing the submission,
as well as working closely with DFAT senior staff
during their due diligence and checking process.
It really helped that we are an ISO 9000-accredited
company, but the staff here really went above and
beyond in ensuring that DFAT had everything they
needed at any point during the assessment period.”

Recently at AT’s headquarters in
Canberra, Chris met with Phil Dawes, Director of
Security (New Chanceries) to be briefed on Quorum’s
potential work over the next year, and to gain insights
into Quorum’s responsibilities and obligations when
conducting work abroad on behalf of DFAT.
“Some
of the younger technical crew got a bit overexcited,
talking about the potential to work in the Paris,
London or Washington embassies. I told them it would
just as likely be Baghdad or Mogadishu,” laughed
Chris.
